Bigga Fish Tour, Manchester 24.10.11

As it drew closer to the event of the Manchester date of the Bigga Fish Halloween tour I began to wonder what to expect. Initially it was advertised that Lady Leshurr was going to be there, this being the main reason I purchased VIP tickets. But then due to circumstances unknown to me she wasn't able to attend.
I then kept hearing that other acts (Lioness, Amplify Dot, Scruffizer, Angel) I wanted to see weren’t going to be doing the Manchester date which was disappointing to hear. Nonetheless I was still looking forward to it and seeing some live music.
After being at the venue for an hour or so I became to realise why perhaps they had cut some of the artists from the line up, there were not a huge amount of people there and perhaps they were saving costs on removing some of the artists from the line up. This obviously being my personal opinion.
Opening the night was LZ7 who I wasn’t particularly keen on but they kicked the crowd into action and got everyone in the mood.
The young, budding star Cashtastic put on a really good show, an artist who I had not heard before but now have full intentions of keeping me eye on. Krept and Konan were one of the big names of the night who got an amazing reaction from the audience. These guys are defiantly one to watch.
For me the highlight of the night was seeing Stay Fresh which admittedly I had not heard before, I had heard their name around since they are from the same area as my favourite artist at the moment, Lady Leshurr. I guess since I am moderately new to checking out the UK music scene I just hadn't gotten round to listening to them yet. Being a big fan of Wu Tang I love the energy and action that a hip hop collective brings to the stage. They totally got the crowd jumping and pretty much blew me away with their high energy, powerful performance. What I really loved that these guys genuinely looked like they were having fun on stage and giving it one hundred percent. They have definitely recruited a new fan.
Cleo Sol brought the female, R&B element to the night who I really enjoyed. She has a really powerful and likeable tone to her voice and I was disappointed that she didn't perform more tracks.
Jazzie and Predz hosted in-between acts. Both guys were incredibly energetic and worked really hard keeping the crowd hyped and in the mood. They certainly had their work cut out since there were less acts and obviously more time to fill. Nice work lads.
Tempa T closed the night, somebody entire crowd had been waiting in anticipation to see. He obviously performed 'Next Hype', a grime anthem, which set the venue on fire because it was literally the moment everyone had been waiting for. He performed about four tracks in total, which is why I was slightly surprised that he said he didn't have time to meet the fans, only quick photographs were allowed as we pre-warned by the staff as he was 'very tired'. I was a little surprised as its the fans that make you who you are. Is he really that big of a star? I'm not sure myself.
I would like to mention the staff and the street team who some were most likely were working for free. They had obviously worked incredibly hard organising the event and it was certainly a huge success, big shouts out to them. I will definitely be keeping eyes open for any future events and perhaps I will travel further next time to catch more of the acts.
